Coming 2027 · A Lab Sync Venture Studio Company

Imaging for automation. Purpose-built for scale.

OnDeck Devices is building an imaging system automation teams have been waiting for: research-grade optics in an industrial instrument designed to live on the deck, not the bench.

The problem

Biology is experiencing an unprecedented demand for imaging capacity.

The cellular model revolution is driving that demand. Organoids, iPSCs, and long-running live-cell experiments need imaging across the whole experiment, not endpoint assay readouts. Automated biology requires microscopy that is easy to both deploy and maintain across the assay lifecycle.

Most imaging systems on today’s decks began life as shared research microscopes, adapted for automation later.

They’re capable instruments. They just weren’t built for this job.

What we’re building

Built for automation, not adapted to it.

Designed for the deck.

Set it on the deck where the assay workflow requires it, wire it in, and run it from your desk. No microscopist required, and no constant handholding from the automation team or the vendor.

Capacity that scales.

Add units as imaging demand grows and manage them as a fleet from your browser, without scaling the headaches.

Open environment.

Open-source control software your team can extend, and analysis-ready data in standard OME formats, straight into your pipeline. Bring your own analysis or choose a partner; there’s no proprietary package to buy.

The optics

Same brass and glass. A different instrument around it.

Standard research objectives and research-grade optics, in a purpose-built industrial instrument designed to need virtually no alignment or tuning in the field.

We give up nothing on image quality. We leave out the features nobody uses.

Early access

Get in early and help shape what ships.

Tell us what your workflow needs. Right now we mostly listen, and what we hear shapes the product.

Partner

I’m an integrator or analysis-software company.

Let’s talk about how OnDeck Devices fits the solutions you build and support.

The founders

Built by people who’ve run imaging at scale.

Two veterans of automated imaging, one who has built imaging systems and the data-generation engines behind AI-driven drug discovery, and one who spent a career building and integrating detection systems, got tired of waiting for an imaging system designed for automation. So, they built it.

OnDeck Devices™ is the first independent company from the Lab Sync Venture Studio: a team focused entirely on building the imaging system, with Lab Sync’s operations and automation know-how behind it.
